Sympathy
On the 8th January 2006, four members of the Rhyl Cycling Club, in North Wales, UK, tragically lost their lives in an accident, whilst taking part in one of the clubs rides.
Maurice Broadbent, Wayne Wilkes, Dave Horrocks and Thomas Harland were killed when a car driver lost control of his vehicle on ice, careering into the group of 12 cyclists.
I believe we should all take a moment to remember the four victims, and also to think about our own safety whilst out on the roads.
Many cyclists are injured or killed every day, so what precautions can we all take?
  • Make sure your cycle is in good working order.
  • Wear bright, or flurecent clothing at all times.
  • Be aware of the road and traffic conditions.
  • Use dedicated cycle routes where possible.
There are of course many other things we can do, but as has been shown here, even the most proffesional of cyclists is in danger every time they ride.
Please, be safe on the road.

Hardings of Bath

We are looking for any information on the firm of Hardings, who manufactured some of the Invalid Carriages we have in the collection.

We know that they were based in Bath, but not a great deal more.

If anyone has any books, leaflets or other information we could take a look at, please contact us at classiccycles@hotmail.com

Thank you.

Information on Cycle Manufacturers

Most of you will know that we have another site on MSN, a link to which you will find on our links page. Well through this site, the following bicycle makers names have come up. Information and/or pictures are sought on Humber Cycles, tamdems made by Hercules, and either Webbs or Websters of Chesterfield U.K who we believe operated in Factory Street until the late 1950s. If you have any info on any of the above, please e-mail us at classiccycles@hotmail.com and we will pass the info on.
