Derek, Carol & Richard Davies of Llandysul, West Wales founded the Pennyfarthing Appeal, in June 1999.

It was set up following a family member being diagnosed with terminal cancer, and the family wanted to assist in the fight to combat this horrible disease.

All monies raised go to Cancer Research Wales at Velindre Hospital in Cardiff, and the appeal sends an annual cheque to the charity. So far over 64,000 GBP has been given to the cause.

The money is raised in a number of ways. Cycle rides, stalls at the Ollewyn Teifi Vintage show, sale of pin badges, charity boxes and other events.

As you may well have seen whilst reading through our pages, Classic Cycles has helped to raise much-needed funds for Cancer Research Wales, Penny Farthing appeal. This is done by organising, and taking part on Cycle rides, using bicycles from the collection.
This year we are hoping to raise more money for this charity. The next Classic Cycles charity ride, will be advertised here very soon. With your help more people can have the support they need to fight cancer, so please, if you can spare some money, donate it to some very worthwhile causes. We have already helped to raise many thousands of pounds for charity over the last few years, in fact, along with our friends from the Cardigan area; we have raised over fifty four thousand pounds for Cancer Research Wales over the past five years, and all thanks to your generosity.
